Abstract:
The need for deterministic behaviour in all computing machines is
questioned. Processes giving rise to indeterminism in asynchronous
parallel digital machines (sometimes called data flow machines)
are identified and the scale of the problem is estimated.
Structures of indeterministic machines are considered, in the light
of the uses to which they might be put.
